10 TIPS FOR A HAPPY PREGNANCY FROM VALENTINA KHAMAIKO

TV presenter and mother of four children Valentina Khamaiko shared what needs to be done to make your pregnancy happy and healthy.

DO NOT TELL ABOUT YOUR PREGNANCY UNTIL TWELVE WEEKS

My advice — don't let anyone know. It should only be your and your husband's secret. When you feel the first signs of pregnancy, you are choked with emotions; you want to tell about it to the whole world. Be patient until the twelfth week. Both doctors and experienced mothers will say the same. You are not even registered in this very delicate and special period. For inner confidence and tracking the condition and your feelings, you can use the pregnancy calendar. Sometimes it happens that early pregnancy can come to an end — this is considered a physiological norm. It is very difficult and painful, and it is better to go through such a situation together with your husband than to explain it to your close ones, believe me. When everything is stabilized, then you can talk about your wonderful situation calmly and confidently.

CHOOSE THE MATERNITY HOSPITAL

Before registering, check out public and private clinics. Analyze the conditions, compare prices — choose the best option for you. You can walk around and see, ask your friends around, but you are to make the final decision by yourself.

START KEEPING A DIARY ABOUT YOUR FEELINGS

To remember every detail and emotion — from 6-7 weeks of pregnancy, start keeping a pregnancy diary. Write by hand, it's very intimate. When I re-read it, I have so many positive memories. Then the child is interested and pleasant to read your diary. It provides many touching moments that will unite you. The child will know that his or her mother loved him or her before birth. 

CONTROL YOUR MEAL, DO NOT DOUBLE YOUR SERVINGS

If you want to keep your body healthy, keep your baby healthy, and stay attractive and physiologically healthy, you are to control yourself. Maternity meals do not include double servings, especially during the first and early second trimester. Then you can increase the portion by 50 - 100 grams. Make an agreement with yourself. Keep in mind that vegetables are in the evening and carbohydrate food is in the morning. This way, you will not gain weight when eating during pregnancy, but you will remain slim and beautiful.

GO IN FOR SPORTS

By simply accelerating the blood with activity, doing sports during pregnancy, you feel healthier. If there is a threatening miscarriage, or the doctor does not recommend sports, try swimming. If sport was previously the part of your life, it should remain; make yourself an allowance of 30-40%, perhaps a little more at the end of pregnancy.

COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR HUSBAND AND MAINTAIN RELATIONSHIPS

Your emotional state during pregnancy can affect your relationship with your husband. He treats you like an alien. A man cannot feel your condition, so he is waiting for direct stories and instructions. Not unrevealed. Only then will he understand what is happening and how he can adequately respond to it and help you. Be honest and straightforward about your feelings with your husband.

TAKE MATERNITY LEAVE AFTER CHILDBIRTH AT LEAST ONCE

If you are expecting your first baby, be sure to go on maternity leave. During the second, third pregnancy, if you feel that you do not need this, as in my case, you cannot do it. Work inspires and entertains me, does not allow me to "hang" in the pregnancy mode, to be depressed and think that something is wrong somewhere. Nevertheless, if you are pregnant for the first time, take paid leave after childbirth. You will understand what it is. Use this time if you want to finish something before the birth of a baby, or just lie down for a month with a book and just relax.

BUY MATERNITY CLOTHING

When I was preparing to become a mother for the first time, it was difficult to choose something from maternity clothes, I did not like anything. Now there is a choice: you can choose looks in different styles and for a variety of occasions. It is more comfortable to wear jeans for expecting mothers than even in her husband's jeans. Buy jeans, two dresses, two blouses — and this will make your life much easier.  Moreover, the skin becomes very sensitive and needs to be taken care of. Fall in love with yourself in a new state, and for this period buy a little — a few necessary things to feel as comfortable as possible.

GIVE YOURSELF A BEAUTIFUL MATERNITY PHOTOSHOOT

DO NOT FORCE HUSBAND TO GO TO BIRTH WITH YOU

Perhaps your husband is not ready for this mentally. He is not ready to be in front of you with a terrifying face, to be weak. Do not be offended by him. Take it calmly; there will be many more moments in life where he can express himself. The spouse can be prepared for joint childbirth: go with him to masterclasses and lectures for young parents.

BONUS TIP: DO NOT HESITATE TO ORDER USEFUL MATERNITY GIFTS

Do not be shy; do not say that you don't need anything. Make specific orders for gifts, create a kind of list. At a minimum, you need a breast pump, baby monitor, and post-natal belts. This "triplet" will simply save you. Friends and family are happy to give you the item you need, and not just another "diaper" cake.
